Thumbtack is a marketplace for local services and is a simple way for you to find new customers. Once you post some information about what you do, people can find you on our website. You just have to post your service once, and it stays up permanently so you don't have to post and re-post every week.

We'll always email you when we receive a lead that we think would be appropriate for you.
Simply follow this link to enter some basic information about what you do. It just takes a couple minutes: http://www.thumbtack.com/sellers

People mostly find us through search engines. For example, we appear first in Google for a search for "Portland House Cleaner". The hope is that we'll soon appear at the top of Google results for all local service searches across the country. :-)

Given the ease in joining and lack of establishing credentials, I hope not. I've spent thousands of hours marketing my business and earning top page rank. I see that many of the results on thumbtack in my category are painters or handymen and some are offering hourly rates that wouldn't cover our fuel charges. You would be doing the market a disservice if you lower the bar on performance since full time professionals in my trade could not compete.  You need to separate the full time from the part time and the "additional service" providers.
