Regarding the name - we don't allow service providers to hide their names because we've found that our community is safer if our users are not anonymous. Danger tends to lurk in the anonymous corners of the internet, and we want to avoid that.
Regarding the address - we require an address of all service professionals on the site for two reasons:
1. To screen all service providers against the Department of Justice's sex offender registry
2. To calculate travel areas for buyers and sellers
We understand you may want to keep your address totally private, and we allow you to do that. Just follow these quick steps:
1. Go to your Account Info page: http://www.thumbtack.com/profile/account_edit
2. Select "Set Private" on the address you want to keep private.
(Note: to set an address private your travel preferences must be set to "I travel to customer". If the customer travels to your place of business we can't keep your address totally private because the customer won't know how to get to your place of business)
