Is Thumbtack safe?

We work incredibly hard at Thumbtack to keep our community safe.

First, every single post is manually reviewed by our staff to make sure that it conforms to our high community standards.

Second, we check each service provider against the Department of Justice's Sex Offender Registry.

Third, we require each service provider to verify ownership of their email address in order to post, and we log their IP address at every login.  This electronic paper-trail creates a deterrent for many would-be criminals.

Finally, we have a number of optional measures that service providers can use to verify their professional status.  We can independently verify a service provider's professional license info, Social Security Number and even perform a comprehensive Background Check.

At Thumbtack, we take safety very seriously and we welcome any feedback you have about how we could do a better job.

With all this said, you should be just as cautious booking services online as you would be offline. Check out our safety page to learn more about how we keep the Thumbtack community safe and for more information on what you can do to stay safe.
