When you purchase a domain through Thumbtack, we will forward the domain to your Thumbtack profile. For example, if you purchase www.stevesmithhandyman.com and your Thumbtack profile is www.thumbtack.com/stevesmithhandyman, anyone who visited www.stevesmithhandyman.com would be immediately forwarded to www.thumbtack.com/stevesmithhandyman
Unfortunately it is quite difficult (and potentially very costly) to manage your domain beyond this. If you'd like to build your own website or create your own email address using your domain, you'll need to do the following (which is quite complicated):
1. You'll need us to transfer your domain elsewhere. The first thing we'll need to know is which company you'd like us to transfer it to. Who will be the new host for the domain?
2. We will also need to know the administrative contact email of the new host.
3. Finally, we cannot transfer the domain to a new host for 60 days after you've purchased the domain with us.
You may need to hire a professional web developer to do all this for you. Building a new website will probably cost ~$300 minimum.
As you can see, unfortunately this is a bit complicated.
